Will God Cut You Off?

Can a born-again child of God be cut off from God according to John 15? Can a child of God basically lose or forfeit their salvation if they are failing to bear fruit? Does John chapter 15 mean that you, as a born again child of God, will be cut off from God, from His salvation, that is, from being in Him, and then ultimately be thrown in the fire as though you were an unbeliever or not a child?
